Submit a nomination for the Floodplain Advocate of the Year Award. The Iowa Floodplain and Stormwater Management Association sponsors an annual award to recognize outstanding contributions to improving floodplain management from the local through state level. To be considered, a nominee should: · Primarily work in the field of floodplain management, such as local floodplain administrator, CRS coordinator, etc. · Be responsible for or assisted in the development of a successful floodplain and/or CRS program to reduce flood hazard risks. · Demonstrate dedication through administration of their community‘s floodplain management program. · Achieve success in aspects of floodplain management such as policy, education, legislation, public information, and implementation. · Promote sustainable water management and resource protection. To submit a nomination, please email the following information: · Nominee name and organization · In 300 words or less, provide a summary of why you‘re nominating this person as Floodplain Advocate of the Year, highlighting the unique efforts of this individual. The Iowa Floodplain and Stormwater Management Association recognizes an outstanding project representing the best in floodplain and stormwater management practices. To be considered for the annual Project Award: · Design should be substantially complete at the time of submission. · Project incorporates best practices and constraints of flood mitigation or promotes the use of new and innovative procedures, methods, designs, and/or products. · Project must be in Iowa. · Previous award winners are not eligible to reapply for 3 years. · The project team must include at least one member of IFSMA.
