12.00pm - IFSMA Annual Meeting

All members and non-members are welcome to join the board as we share some updates from the last year and announce the newly elected board members.

12.20pm - Webinar - Downtown Water Trails: A Des Moines Perspective

The focus of the presentation is a challenge common in multi-jurisdictional, public-private partnership projects: How do you help manage a high-profile, floodplain-sensitive initiative when your agency is not the lead? Drawing from real experience, this presentation will explore who is leading the effort, how it is being funded, strategies for maintaining communication with partner agencies and internally, understand that this may in fact be a beneficial function, all while protecting long-term flood resilience.

Kyle Riley is the Water Trails Manager/Water Resources Engineer with the City of Des Moines Engineering Department. He works on water resources, stormwater master plan, capital improvement projects, and supports the City Manager's Office in implementation and departmental coordination of the Downtown Water Trails initiative. Kyle has almost 20 years experience and holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering and graduate degrees in Civil Engineering and Agricultural Engineering, all from Iowa State University.

This event is pre-approved for 0.5 CEC.
